Privacy Policy
Linguamigo (“we”, “the app”) is a language-learning application. This policy describes the information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account
When you create an account we store:
- A unique user ID assigned by Firebase Authentication
- Email address (email/password sign-up, or the address provided by Google or Apple)
- Display name and profile photo URL, if your sign-in provider supplies them
- Whether your email is verified
Learning progress
While you use the app we store progress tied to your account, including:
- Completed lessons and level-unlock summaries
- Spaced-repetition items (flashcards, quizzes, and character writing)
- Daily streak and related activity dates
- In-app settings (theme, audio, voice, sound effects)
- Whether you have finished onboarding
Purchases
If you buy Linguamigo Premium, the app sends the store purchase token or receipt to our server so we can confirm it with Google Play or the App Store. We then store a premium flag and related metadata (product ID, platform, grant time) on your account. We do not store your full payment card details.
Advertising (free accounts)
On Android and iOS, free accounts may see banner ads and optional rewarded ads (extra practice) served by Google AdMob. Google may collect device identifiers (including advertising ID where available), IP address, and interaction data according to Google’s advertising privacy policy. Premium removes banner ads and does not require a rewarded ad for extra practice.
Debug and non-release builds of the app use Google’s test ad units so they do not send traffic to live ad inventory.
Content downloads
Lesson audio, stroke diagrams, and similar curriculum files are downloaded from Google Firebase Storage. Those files are our content, not uploads from you. The app does not currently offer user-generated file uploads.
Device and diagnostics
The app uses Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Storage, Crashlytics) operated by Google. On Android and iOS, Firebase Crashlytics collects crash reports so we can fix bugs. A report can include a stack trace, device model, OS version, and your Firebase user ID if you are signed in.
Operating systems, stores, and the services above may also collect standard technical logs (for example IP address, device type) as part of providing those services.
Settings such as theme and audio preferences are also stored locally on your device (SharedPreferences).
How we use information
We use this information to:
- Sign you in and keep you signed in
- Provide lessons, reviews, writing practice, and streaks
- Enforce Premium entitlements and restore purchases
- Show ads on free accounts
- Diagnose crashes and keep the app working
- Operate, secure, and debug the service
We do not sell your personal information.
Sharing
We share data with processors that host the app:
- Google Firebase — accounts, progress, functions, curriculum files, and crash reports
- Google AdMob — ads on free Android/iOS accounts
- Google Play / Apple — sign-in (if you choose those providers) and in-app purchases
We may also disclose information if required by law.
Retention
We keep account and progress data until you delete your account, or until we shut down the service. Backups and logs held by our processors may persist for a limited time after deletion.
Premium purchases are owned by your Google Play or Apple ID. Deleting your Linguamigo account does not cancel or refund a store purchase. You can restore Premium on a new Linguamigo account that uses the same store account.
Your choices
- Access and correction: some profile fields are visible under Profile and Settings.
- Ads: upgrade to Premium to remove banner ads and skip rewarded ads for extra practice. You can also use your device’s advertising-ID / tracking controls.
- Deletion: in the app, go to Settings → Delete account. That permanently removes your Firebase Authentication user and Firestore progress for that account.
If you only installed the app and never created an account, uninstalling the app removes local preferences on that device.
Children
Linguamigo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have done so, contact us so we can delete it.
International processing
Firebase and AdMob may process data in the United States and other countries where Google operates.
Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
